How I Work
I will help you to identify what your goals are for therapy and what your agenda is for each session. You are free to address anything that you believe to be important in your life.

Hand held by fatherYou will be offered a variety of suggestions and perspectives, be asked thought provoking questions and be listened to with acceptance and compassion. You will also be offered any combination of talking, psychodrama, 
emotional freedom technique™, guided imagery, meditation and discussion of spirituality and 12-step philosophy to support and assist you in accomplishing your goals. We will also develop concrete actions steps for you to take between sessions to help you to accomplish your goals.

Sessions usually take place in my office; however, sometimes they are done on the phone if you can’t make it to the office. I offer different lengths of sessions based on your needs.

It is my belief that how we think, feel and act in therapy is how we think, feel and act in our life and that the therapeutic relationship is a mirror of our other relationships. As such, I focus on the interactions that my clients and I have during the course of therapy to help them understand how they have relationships, what kinds of perceptions they have, how well they attempt to identify and meet their needs, how well they communicate and what their fears are.

Helping Hand Focusing on the “here and now” of the therapy and interactions is invaluable. I strongly encourage my clients to raise any concerns they may have about the therapeutic process and/or about how I am facilitating sessions. By enhancing assertiveness in sessions it is enhanced outside of sessions.

Many of my clients are in a combination of individual and group therapy on a weekly basis. We have found that this is the most beneficial way to engage in therapy. Some clients are initially reluctant to enter a group due to a variety of fears that they have. These fears are respected and explored. When the time is right, they then enter a group. Group therapy supports the work that is done in individual therapy and individual therapy supports the work that is done in group therapy.
