People who come to see me are experiencing one or more of the following:

  • Pain: People usually come to see me because they are feeling pain. they don't "feel right" or things are not going the way they'd like them to go.
  • Fear: People are often afraid to try new things, leave unhealthy relationships, change jobs, do what they really want to do, assert themselves, etc.
  • Loneliness: Feeling lonely is often rooted in having a poor self concept, unrealistic expectations, fear of being close to others and poor communication skills. These, along with other factors, contribute to having interpersonal relationship difficulties.
  • Shame: Shame can appear as a very deep and pervasive sense of unworthiness and embarrassment. This is a source of pain that may prompt someone to seek counseling. Its pervasiveness can be suffocating and is, of course, very toxic.
  • Anger: Many people struggle with strong feelings of anger and want to learn how to deal with it more effectively. They want
to feel angry less often, learn why they do feel angry and learn ways to express anger constructively.

My work with clients is based on a holistic view of their life. This includes talking about exercise, diet, use of drugs/alcohol, self-care, spirituality and lifestyle.

I assist my clients by helping them to outline their goals and to strategize about how to meet them quickly and efficiently. I do this by asking thought provoking questions, by offering a variety of perspectives and suggestions, by listening with empathy, acceptance and compassion and by utilizing different types of interventions such as psychodrama, Emotional Freedom Techniques™, guided imagery and meditation.

This process often results in fear being transformed into courage, the ability to take action despite feeling afraid. Goals are accomplished and a sense of well-being and contentment is established.
