How I Work

What is a session like?

The journey to a happier you begins when we work together to identify what your goals are for counseling and what your agenda is for each session. During your sessions you are free to address anything that you believe to be important in your life.

You will be offered a variety of suggestions and perspectives, be asked thought provoking questions and be listened to with acceptance and compassion. You will also be offered any combination of talking, psychodrama, Emotional Freedom Techniques™ guided imagery, meditation and discussion of spirituality and 12-step philosophy to support and assist you in accomplishing your goals. We will also develop concrete actions steps for you to take between sessions to help you to accomplish your goals.

My promise to you...

From time to time, clients have told me disturbing stories about their experiences with other therapists. I've heard about:
  • Therapists who just sat there and didn't give any input.
  • Therapists who spent most of the session talking about themselves.
  • Therapists who were judgmental.
I have even heard of patients suddenly being "fired" by their therapist -- told that there would be no more sessions -- with no explanation.
